2009-2014 Projects |
Our current project is the acquisition and restoration of Little Gull Island light station.
Little Gull Island Light serves to warn mariners of the dangerous area where Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound meet. Known as "The Race," this treacherous area of water has claimed many vessels. in addition, lives. Little Gull Light was first established in 1804. The present lighthouse was constructed in 1869.
GET INVOLVED
There are many ways you can get involved! We need talents and skills of all kinds!
Volunteers are needed for all aspects of these projects, including engineering studies, marine transport, restoration/construction, grants writing and fund raising.
We also welcome helping hands for photography, writing, office work, research for lighthouse articles and monographs, and public events.

Your support is needed to fund the following project in 2010:
Little Gull: baseline engineering study to determine problem areas and necessary repairs.
Major donors will be acknowledged in our materials, on our website, and eventually on a commemorative plaque at the lighthouse.
