2009 EEL DUES NOTICE EAST END LIGHTHOUSES, INC. and OPTIONAL ONE-YEAR TRIAL MEMBERSHIP in U.S. LIGHTHOUSE SOCIETY

Thank you for renewing your membership or joining EEL for 2009. We are a 501© (3) not for profit organization. This year we are embarking on an interesting and challenging program to continue the love of lighthouses so embodied by our late President, Merlon Wiggin. We already miss him. As part of our activities for this year, the Board of Directors has decided our organization and membership is better served by affiliating with the US Lighthouse Society (USLHS) (www.uslhs.org) and dropping our relationship with the American Lighthouse Foundation. The EEL Board believes this opportunity will provide our members with increased information on lighthouses and present us with a real opportunity to learn about lighthouses and lighthouse programs with USLHS. We also believe there is a greater opportunity to network and cooperate with an existing Long Island chapter of USLHS, which could compliment EEL objectives. We believe that USLHS will blend very well with our stated mission for a "hands-on approach to restoring, rehabilitating and maintaining lighthouses on the East End of Long Island." EEL has negotiated an arrangement for a year trial membership for all of our members who opt to join USLHS. The ten dollar per person amount from EEL dues that would have been remitted to ALF shall be made available to subsidize a negotiated $25 annual individual membership in USLHS. Any EEL member who wishes to join USLHS and receive the "Keeper's Log", a first-rate lighthouse publication, and other privileges of USLHS membership should remit an additional $15 dollars for this one year introductory program. Remember, an additional $15 enclosed with your 2009 Yearly Membership Dues includes joint membership with East End Lighthouses and the United States Lighthouse Society. EEL membership provides you with newsletters of coming events, progress on lighthouse restoration and other news worthy items. Please join EEL for another exciting year of restoring, rehabilitating and maintaining lighthouses on the East End of Long Island!
